There has been recently officially announced that the Europeans who visit Indonesia for a holiday (toeristishe purposes) of up to 30 days (extension not possible) from now on no longer need visa. This scheme is only applicable on arrival and departure from the following international airports:
- Soekarno Hatta, Jakarta,
- NgurahRai, Bali,
- Kualanamu, Medan,
- Juanda, Surabaya,
- Hang Nadim, Batam &
- (four international seaports).
You arrive in Jakarta and leave the country within 30 days via Jakarta or any of the other locations than mentioned above is a visa on arrival not necessary. But if you arrive internationally through Yogyakarta (e.g. from Kuala Lumpur) than you need at the airport in Yogyakarta to purchase a visa on Arrival. Or eg. When you arrive in Denpasar Bali Ngurah Rai, but from a not above airport you fly to the next international destination (e.g.. Yogyakarta, Makassar) then a visa on arrival is still necessary.
Also you come to Indonesia for family visit, for business purposes or for more than 30dg then a Visa on Arrival is still necessary.
