Java – Bali – Active and Adventure

You travel from Europe to Indonesia with arrival at Soekarna Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.

Arrival in Jakarta! After passport control and then the luggage strap for the suitcases follows 1 last customs control of only the suitcases (and you give here the Customs form that you have entered about to enter). And then through the doors outward. Our driver is ready here. You can walk after the doors to the left and to the right so check sides before you think there is no one. The driver has a paging board in his hands; A sign with your name and our logo on it. After the meeting you will go to the car and drive to the hotel. Here you arrive in the late evening (depending on traffic pressure). The rest of the evening is free at leisure.

Departure at 8.30 AM for City Tour with a local guide. You drive to Sunda Kelapa harbour. From here you walk via Pasar Ikan (One of the Poorest District in Jakarta) and walk past the historic sites in this area to Kota Tua, Fatahillah square. The local guide joins you during the walk and explains the sights you pass. Your guide will say goodbye in Fatahillah Square. You can independently visit one of the museum and nostalgic Cafe Batavia. When you're finished we drive you to Sukabumi.

Today a day to relax. The surrounding area is fantastic and lends itself perfectly for a nice walk (if desired you can independently schedule a very nice Kampung walk with a local guide through the hotel. The guide knows the way but does not always speak English. Optional, not included). The car and the driver are near and standby.

Again a relaxing start to the day. Then departure to Bandung on the way we make a stop at the special ' Gunung Padang '. In the afternoon you arrive in Bandung where you would like to take an environmental walk along historic buildings in the surroundings of your hotel's Art Deco style. Via Jl Braga (near Hotel) was once the (nightlife) heart of the city you walk a lap of about 45 minutes.

Today if not done yesterday a walk in the area of the hotel. To get an idea about the Indonesian way of life you either need to be a very early riser or you go out around 4 or 5PM. Indonesian kampungs (villages) will then have the most activity as they tend to void the heat of midday.

In the morning the car drives you to the parking area of Papandayan. You're guide joins you on route and from the parking area you start your walk up to the camping area of Papandayan. Good shoes and some warm clothing are advisable as it will be chilly when the sun is down and the grounds are quite rough. It is a soft hike to the moderately fit through amazing landscape.

After an amazing night in complete silence. You get up early morning to experience a private sunrise. Usually there are no other tourists around. You enjoy breakfast and the area waking up in its full colour experience. From the camping ground it is a 6 hour walk through the rural area of the Preanger. You make some stops at Papandayan to receive a full active volcano experience. You can even swim in the crater lake if you dare too. Then you walk further over the mountain to Pangalengan. At Pangalengan you meet your car and driver to take you to your hotel.

Breakfast is at leisure. You’ve discussed with your driver when he picks you up and you start with a short tour in the area to experience what everyday life of tea plantation workers and farmers is like then by car to Bandung. There is still sufficient time to have a city tour in Bandung and if desired you can enjoy a performance from the Angklung (traditional Indonesian bamboo instrument) school of Pak Ujo. The children of the school daily give a performance.

Your driver drives in the early morning ahead to pick you up from the train station in Kuta Arjo. You take your own luggage with you in the train. A car from the hotel drives you to the train station.

It’s a comfortable train ride with nice views. In Kuto Arjo you meet your driver and you drive to Magelang. If desired you can still make a stop at the OHD art museum just before you drive to your hotel.

You are currently at the foot of Mount Sumbing and nature is absolutely stunning. Best way to enjoy this is either by foot. With a local (basic) English speaking guide you with car from the hotel to a small village called Kembang Kuning. From there you walk through a pass to a small but very charming Hindu temple called Selogriyo. When you have enjoyed the peace and quiet of the temple you walk back to the car which is waiting at Kembang Kuning. We to drive you back to the hotel for an afternoon of leisure.

Just after 5.30AM you depart to Borobudur (DO NOT FORGET swimwear and dry set of clothing). Early morning this Buddhist site is still reasonably quiet in tourists and sales people. Therefore the best time to visit and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the complex. A guide can be hired at the entrance (entrance fee and local guide not included is at fixed price) and will take you on a tour over the complex and explain the reliefs you see. After Borobudur you can have a short stop at Mendut Temple then the car will take you to a local restaurant where you can change into swimwear. In the back of a small truck you drive to the river Elo where you'll be fitted with proper clothing e.i. life vast, helmet and then you're off to raft the river. Where you meet streams in the category of 3+. The raft tour takes about 2 hours and includes a short stop for a local snack and a young coconut drink. At the end of the raft the small truck drives you back to the restaurant, where you change back in dry clothing and you can enjoy a very nice Indonesian lunch. After lunch you’ll be brought to your hotel in Yogyakarta to enjoy a late afternoon of leisure.

Departure at 07.30AM from your hotel to the Prambanan area. The first stop will be at Candi Plaosan where guide and bikes are waiting for a bike tour in the Prambanan area. After your visit to Plaosan, bikes are fitted to size and you'll receive a traditional topi (rice field hat) to protect you from the sun and a small bottle of water (0,6L) and then you're off to explore Indonesians in their everyday life. We bike through flat terrain and you will be introduced to tempe,
tofu and emping making. Witness a short performance of the old Angklung (bamboo instrument) maker and see Candi Plasosan and Sudjiwan. It's an easy bike ride where dirt road will alternate asphalted roads. The peace and quiet of the village we pass is restful and relaxing and the insight in everyday life is a joyful experience. The last stop of today will be a visit to Prambanan (entrance fee and local guide not included is at fixed price).

A car from the hotel drives you to the train station at 6AM and by morning train you leave Central Java behind you and travel to East-Java. You meet your driver at Jombang. From Jombang it is an approx. 5 hour drive to Malang. If time allows it you can still do a short city tour Malang.

Today 2 Optie.

1. You depart 1AM to Tosari at Tosari you get into a jeep whih drives you to the view point to experience the sun rise above Bromo and Semeru. Once finished you find your jeep and you drive to Bromo parking area. From here you go by foot or on horseback (to be hired on the spot not included) to Bromo Volcano and walk up the stairs for a great view over the Bukit Pasir, The sea of sand. From the Caldera you walk back to your jeep and it drives further into the National Park. You stop at a waterfall and end in Tumpang. At Tumpang your car is waiting to drive you back to the hotel in Malang.

2. We spend the day more at leisure. After breakfast depart for a Malang City tour. You can visit Tempo Doeloe Museum, visit the Chinese temple, have coffee at Toko Oen and if desired you can extent to the area around the Malang and perhaps visit ‘Selekta’ and apple city Batu. The driver will help you and suggest options to spend the day.

Today we visit Bromo this can be done at sun rise then departure is 00.00AM or at a later time. You of course miss the sun rise but it will be less growded at Bromo.
At the discussed time we depart from the hotel. When on the sunrise tour we first drive to the viewpoint of Mount Pananjakan to await the sunrise from the viewpoint or at a closeby cafe enjoying a coffee. Once the sun has risen we drive you by jeep to visit the black Sea of Sand and Mt Bromo. After parking near Mt. Bromo (this is where you start if without sun rise), it is a 45 minutes walk to his crater rim. Once you reach the rim of the caldera, you can explore the area a bit or rest and enjoy the view. Back at the car we have one more amazing stop in this area; the contrasting green savannah then we continue to Bondowoso. Keep inmind it will be another short night!

Please be aware sulphur is a hazard good and people with asthma should be cautious. At midnight the car will drive you to the parking area of Ijen which is the start point of your stunning and truly breath taking midnight (soft) hike to the top of this volcano. Your local guide will be one of the sulphur miners from Ijen. He does not speak much English but he knows the roads blind folded. Before you are rewarded with the beauty of Ijens Crater lake and Blue Fire you do need to climb the steep hill of Ijen. A visit to Ijen will be the icing on the cake of your Java experience. Back in the car we drive you to Bali. After check in to the hotel the car (driver) returns to Java - end of transport service.
